Ditch those chemical-laden dryer sheets and avoid the thick-blue liquid softeners to trade out with this one simple trick.
Use white distilled 5% vinegar in your washing machine to be used as a fabric softener. You can use the designated amount in its dispenser or a 1/2 to 1 cup.
Do It! I promise that your clothes will not smell like vinegar.
By using vinegar, you will soften your clothes, keep your washer clean, lengthen the life of your clothing and prevent bright colors from fading... for much less than the commercial products. And - it may help your family with any skin issues!
The chemicals, dyes and additives in the commercial fabric softeners are a common source of irritation for people with sensitive skin, eczema and other skin conditions.
Think about it....If your clothing smells of "ocean breeze" from a fabric softener, then the chemicals are still in your clothing. Add to that, your body heat and outside temperatures change the chemical make up and that is rubbing against your skin. Think of the years of using fabric softener and how that could affect your body.
"Children exposed in the womb to chemicals in cosmetics and fragrances are more likely to develop behavioral problems commonly found in children with attention deficit disorders, according to a study of New York City school-age children published January 29th, 2010."
Its not to late to start making changes for a cleaner and healthier lifestyle.
